NVIDIA Quadro compatibility with PropCad



Computers and workstations running NVIDIA Quadro graphics hardware may encounter some compatibility issues with PropCad 2014 and newer. PropCad uses an OpenGL rendering environment to display the 3D model of the propeller - however some of the NVIDIA Quadro display drivers have known issues with their OpenGL API, which results in the display drivers crashing during execution of PropCad and other OpenGL based programs. PropCad users may want to improve the stability of PropCad by installing a compatible driver.

To begin troubleshooting compatibility, please have the following information:

    1. Graphics card manufacturer (i.e. NVIDIA)
    2. Graphics card model (i.e. Quadro K2000)
    3. Operating system (i.e. Windows 10)
    4. Display driver version (i.e. 340.66)

Note: Before making any changes to your system, it is recommended to create a system restore point.


You may need to adjust your display drivers if:
    1. PropCad will not start or display on the screen.
    2. PropCad frequently encounters "An unspecified error and needs to close."
    3. PropCad frequently stops responding and must be manually closed via the Task Manager.
    4. Hardware acceleration is disabled in PropCad, but graphics hardware is installed.

 

If you are experiencing any of these issues, it is recommended that you review your current driver for compatibility and consider updating the driver, or rolling the driver back, to a version that performs correctly.



To update to the latest driver, use the NVIDIA Driver Downloads utility:

    1. Visit the website: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us 
    2. Enter product type, series, product model, and operating system.
    3. Select the download type, we recommend starting with the Quadro ODE Graphics Driver.
    4. Press Search to locate the latest driver.
    5. Install the latest driver and follow the included instructions.

Note: NVIDIA is always correcting issues and updating the graphic card drivers, so be sure to check back frequently for updated versions.

 



To locate legacy versions of NVIDIA drivers:

    1. Visit the webiste: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Find.aspx?lang=en-us
    2. Enter product type, series, product model, and operating system.
    3. Under Recommended/Beta, select Recommended/Certified.
    4. Press Search to list all the available driver versions and the associate release dates.
    5. Select a legacy driver to install and follow the included instruction.

Note: HydroComp cannot recommend a specific driver - the issue has been fixed by NVIDIA in the past, but occasionally is re-introduced in newer versions. We recommend starting with the lastest driver, and progressively rolling the driver back until performance is restored.
